Craft Supplies and Echoing Angels

Good Sunday Afternoon!

I have been busy around the house this afternoon. Besides doing a couple loads of laundry, I cleaned up my craft table. Wow! It was in such disarray. Like with my decorating, I have been getting all of my spring and Easter craft supplies oragnized and ready. Here are a few pics that I took of the top shelf of my craft table. You always feel such better (but tired) after you clean. This was no different. I am ready to start using all my Easter treasures to make some sweet spring goodies. Here are some goodies I have acquired recently to get some projects started. I love the little glitter bunny ornaments that I found at Hobby Lobby. They come in pink, blue, green, and yellow. The little picks are the ones that I got at One Hundred Wishes. Aren't they so sweet?!?

This evening, we will be heading back to church for a concert by Echoing Angels. I am excited for two reasons:
1. I have heard them before, and they are awesome!
2. Raimah is opening for them (my guys' band).

I have added a link below for Echoing Angels in case you want to visit their site.

Other than that, it is a quiet Sunday in the Wrinn household.
Have a beautiful week!

I LOVE BUNNIES!

I love bunnies...all bunnies! They are so cute and cuddly. I have collected bunnies for quite sometime. In my collection, you will find stuffed bunnies, wooden bunnies, bunny plates, bunny bowls, bunny dolls, bunnies, bunnies, bunnies! hee hee
I don't just put my bunnies out at Easter, and then put them away. My bunnies stay out all year. Now, throughout the year, my bunnies may be found in various locations of my home, but they are still there. However, when spring starts to arrive, my bunnies take center stage. I have already started to think spring. Easter is earlier this year, and so is the time change. So right after Valentine's Day, I began to move the bunnies to the forefront to showcase them this spring.

Today, a package arrived at my door.
It was from Andrea's One Hundred Wishes!
I was so excited. I had ordered a bunny, some really cute spring picks, and sweet little bird clip. They were all ohhh sooooo cute, and I got one of her signature lollipops too! Yummmm!
So, I thought I'd share some of my bunnies with you, including the new one that arrived today.

So, sit back and enjoy a little hop down My Bunny Trail!

I even wear bunny jewelry!

This is one of my FAVS!! It is by Jim Shore. This is the next piece I hope to get! The Easter Basket
And look inside the bunny carriage (below)!

A sweet little baby bunny!!
(Sorry! This pic isn't so great!)

And now.....my bunny from One Hundred Wishes!

Isn't she wonderful!

I will save more bunnies for another post, maybe closer to Easter.
I hope you had a hippity hoppity time with my bunnies.
Have a beautiful spring-like day even if you have to picture it in your mind.

Now, on to Saturday's Special!

Black Furniture and George Washington

I "heart" this piece in my dining room. I found it in an antique shop here in town a while back. It isn't an antique, but I thought it was cute, and the price was right....$38.00! Wow!!

I love this sweet little vintage cabinet. It houses some of my crystal serving dishes and plates.
Same antique shop.....$22.00! Wow!

This cute little vintage table was at the same antique shop. Yep, another great deal! $28.00!

We got our black entertainment cabinet at Haverty's. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it!

So, now you can see firsthand, I love black furniture!

~George Washington~
Today is George Washington's birthday. My kids at school wrote a letter to General Washington and President Washington (whichever they chose) to "ask" him about life during that time. This assignment was twofold: They were using what they had learned about that time in our country to ask him smart questions AND they were practicing writing friendly letters. They really had fun with it!
Now, here's a picture that I have in my Americana collection:
(sitting on my little vintage black rocking chair)

Happy Birthday George!

Friday's Feast

Appetizer

What kind of lotion or cream do you use to keep your hands from getting too dry? Bath & Body Midnight Pomegranite

Kelly Turns The Big 3-0!!
Kelly is my first niece. I can't believe how time has flown by! It seems like yesterday my Bee-Boo was born! Today she turned 30! I was only 12 when I became an aunt for the first time. Boy, was I ever proud! I remember back to the day that she was born. They were living in Mississippi (Air Force) so we were not there at the time of her birth. When we got the call, I got so excited that I started to jump for joy! I decided to run next door to where my grandparents lived to tell them of the good news! I was running so fast that I skidded across our hardwood floors, and right into the door frame! I skinned up my leg pretty good, but I didn't stop to even notice. I headed out the door at full speed, shouting the good news before I even reached their house. When Kelly was born, she had a headful of dark black hair. We were all fair skin, but her dad had dark hair (Italian). The incredible amount was what we were shocked at. She had enough hair to wear a bow when she was first born. The hair came down the back of her little neck! We couldn't believe it. I was lucky enough to visit them over Spring Break and get to stay a while with them. I was in heaven! Now, my Bee Boo has a daughter of her own. I was just as excited and proud when Corinne came into the world as well. I am so proud of Kelly! She has worked so hard to make a life for Corinne and herself. She is one strong young lady!

Happy, Happy Birthday Kelly!
You will always be my "Bee-Boo"!

Love,
Rebecca

Til Death Do Us Part

Here's a picture of my little mobster, Biff, aka Blake.
OMGosh, I know he's mine, but isn't he just too handsome!?!
Blake has been in many productions such as Westside Story, Sanders Family Christmas, Grease to name a few. His lateset drama part was the character Biff Buffolini, in "Til Death Do Us Part". This is a murder mystery of a Mobster Wedding. Our church put on the dinner on Friday, February 15. Here's a little about this murder mystery, Til Death Does Us Part.

*MY MYSTERY DINNER*
This summer, I am planning a Mystery Dinner myself. This dinner is like no other mystery dinner, as there is not a murder. The food itself is a mystery. The way it works is this: Each guest receives a menu. There are 3 courses to the dinner, and you choose 5 items for each course. On the menu, are 15 items, however, you will not know what you have ordered. You MUST make all your choices for each course before anything is served. You must choose all items, no item can be chosen more than once. Once all orders are placed, menus (with the guest's name on it) are collected and taken to the servers. EVERYTHING is cleared before the next course begins. Now, it sounds simple enough, but you have to know that all items are a mystery. Here's what I mean.....you will see a sample of item names (that the guests see) and what the item really is (which they WON'T see).....

inchworms.....greenbeans
crumbcatcher.....napkin
somersaults.....rolls
lover's delight.....spoon
coward's special.....chicken

The thing is, utensils are included in the item list, so someone may get mashed potatoes and a toothpick, but NO fork or spoon. You may get all utensils, a piece of cheese and a napkin for one course. As I said before, everything is cleared before the next course is served, so that won't help you any! Since Emily Post's Etiquette does not apply, guests are left to find creative ways to eat their dinner. This is such fun!! I have been hostess to a Mystery Dinner twice, and both were SO AWESOME! The guests had the best time! I look forward to hosting a Mystery Dinner again this summer!!

Secret Admirer Revealed!

I was so excited to join the Secret Admirer Swap of Jenn's and Cheryl's.
All of my goodies were sent out last Wednesday, and they arrived at their destination on Monday, Feb. 11.
(I tracked it to make sure it got there, since it was a secret from whom it came from).
In this swap, we had to include the following:
*Chocolate
*Cherub
* Heart

So, here's my Secret Admirer.....

I picked out the yummy chocolate heart to share with Amanda.
Here are the other goodies I sent her.

This is a sweet little pink plate with hearts on it. I also sent a pink beaded heart ornament.

I made this tussie mussie for Amanda. It is made from old sheet music, lace, ribbon, and embellishments.
This was the first thing I made after I joined the swap.
I hope you enjoy it Amanda!

I filled the tussie mussie with all of these goodies.

I also made this for Amanda as soon as I joined. I had such fun creating this from vintage and Valentine treasures.

Next, I found a sweet cherub tin ornament. I added some embellishments to make it more festive.

Embellishments turned this little watering can into a cute little Valentine surprise.

I love creating with paper, and I thought Amanda might like to also. So I sent her a lot of sweet Valentine papers for her to make her own creations. They were clipped together with two little felt heart clips that I made for her.

Amanda, I had such fun creating and gathering these Valentine goodies for you. I sure hope you enjoy them sweetie.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Hugs and Blessings,
Rebecca

Did Someone Wish For Snow?

Me, Me, It was ME!!

Well, we awoke to snow coming down. In just a few minutes, we had some white on the ground. Baby, is it cold outside again! This weather is crazy to say the least. We had several almost spring-like days this week, and now this. It rained all night, then turned to snow this morning.

My Dad arrived around 9:30 this morning as Kenny was getting ready to head off to work. I drove my Dad to get my Mom. She has been in rehab since her surgery (which has been about 2 weeks). They released her this morning, and boy was she ready to return home! The place that she was at was about 35 minutes from home. Now, those that know me, know that I do NOT like to drive in snow or ice. It snowed all the way there but luckily the roads were clear all the way. There were some slushy spots, but most of the way it was dry. What was so weird was that all the schools we passed were closed due to snow. Huh?? There was just a dusting on the ground but the roads were clear. However, I do have to say, that many of these schools were in a rural area and the buses didn't chance it on the backroads.  Of course my school wasn't out for snow, but I had already taken the day off of work to be able to get my Mom.

So, after we got there, we had quite a wait so that everyone that needed to talk with us before she was released could do so. After we met with everyone, we were ready to be on our way back home. They wheeled Mom out to my car that was pulled up at the door.  Mom was going to be more comfortable up front so I rolled the passenger side window down so Mom could hold onto the door while being helped in the car, while Daddy got in the backseat.  The nurse decided the window should be down ALL the way {it only lacked a little being all the way down anyway} so instead of asking me to do it, she shoved it down with her hands.  Yikes!  I heard an awful noise...and I wasn't too happy that she had done this to my vehicle that I hadn't had very long!  She got the window off track, and we couldn't get it back up!!!  By this time, the snow was really coming down again!  I worked and worked on it and finally got it most of the way back up....but it was NOT going to go all the way back up!  So Mom told me to get her robe from her suitcase.  We put it in the window to shield her from the snow.  We laughed all the way home, as the robe {BRIGHT PINK} waved out the window all the way!  All in all, we had a nice drive home. Once I got her settle at her house in her own bed {oh boy was she happy}, I went to get us all some lunch. We had a nice visit while we ate and talked about what comes next for her, before I was off to get some things done at home while she rested.

Now, I'd like to say something about my Mom.  She has done so well after her surgery with physical therapy.   She is one of the strongest women that I know. She has always been so selfless, thinking of everyone else before herself.....ALWAYS!! She is also the most amazing cook EVER!! She has had numerous surgeries over the years, and always comes through like a trouper! I am so proud of her. Here's a little pic of my Mom that I wanted to share.

Until next time.....

Spring Has NOT Quite Sprung and Life's Simple Pleasures

What a gorgeous day it was today. It is nowhere near spring, but we sure got a small taste of it today. I LOVE spring, but we haven't had one good snow yet so I am not quite ready for spring.....but I will be soon. With spring always comes rebirth and new life. One of my favorite things to do is to watch all the little cuties that live outdoors. I love to watch the little bunnies hopping through the yard and listen to the twittering of the sweet little birdies. I just love bird watching. Cardinals are my favorites! Ofcourse, I love wrens too LOL. Ok, I enjoy watching them all! LOL They are such funny little creatures! I like to get out my binoculars and spy on our fine feathered friends! It's these simple pleasures that just feel my heart with joy.

So to start getting ready for the upcoming spring season, I found some sweet little goodies for Our Back Porch. Aren't they adorable?! So now I can be surrounded by these cute creatures all the time. And to be comfy while enjoying my bird watching from my screened in porch, I got these new cushions for my rocking chairs. I just LOVE red and

white checks, and these were calling my name! They are so comfortable too, which is a must as we spend a lot of time on our back porch in the spring and summer. So be watching for more "Back Porch" blogging as spring begans to approach.

Until next time...Hugs and Blessings,
Rebecca
A Week's Worth of News!

Wow! This week has flown by in one way, and been crazy slow in another. Is that possible?
I guess it is!!

For starters, my Mom should be coming home this next week. She had a rough day yesterday, but the week pretty much went well. She is really working hard in her physical therapy! I am so proud of her!

On Tuesday morning, I was confronted with a horrible occurrence! My practicum student from last semester was having brain surgery! What! How could this be happening. She is only in her early twenties, and a mom of a precious few months old son! Apparently her head was really hurting and she was vomiting last week. Her doctor ordered an MRI and they discovered a tennis ball size tumor in her brain. They immediately scheduled surgery the next day. She is doing great though. Her doctors are surprised and impressed! She was sent home on Friday. They are still awaiting the pathologist's report to see if it is malignant or not. Please keep this young woman and her family in your prayers!! She did such a great job in my classroom, and the kids loved her! She is going to be an AWESOME teacher someday.....I just pray she has that chance!

On Thursday evening, I met my best friend at Ruby Tuesday's for dinner. We planned to meet at five o'clock, and I was running about 5 minutes behind. However, we were seated quickly and our orders were taken. We never hushed the whole time, and we finally thought we'd better leave at 9:45 p.m. when everyone else had gone. LOL They were soooo gracious though, and we were appreciative not to have been booted out! LOL

My best friend, Lisa, and I met in college. Now this wasn't right after high school. We are both nontraditional students, which mean we were older and had families already. We met in our first Biology class, and have been best buds since! With both of us being teachers with families, we are kept quite busy, even though our children are grown. We live in different towns, and teach in different towns, and we may not see each other for a few months....however, we pick up right where we left off everytime. We are perfect together as best friends, we are sooo alike!! One of these days, we are going to get her into blogland too! I am so excited about that!
Anyway, we exchanged Christmas presents.....yep, you read that right.....Christmas presents! She had also had a birthday, so I had to give her her belated birthday present as well! For Christmas, I gave her some Santa ornaments. (sorry, I didn't get a pic of them). We both collect Santas so I knew this would be a hit!

Then for her birthday, I gave her a birthday ornament and a friends necklace. Here's a pic of her birthday goodies.
The necklace says "Laugh" on one side, which is what we always do when we are together!

The other side says.....The best antique is an old friend.
This couldn't be more perfect as we always go antique shopping, and she is my oldest, dearest friend!

On to my goodies now.....
Oh, I do love a little leopard! LOL She knows me so well!

Look at the precious "Cupcakes and Chocolate Teapot"!
There is also Earl Grey Tea inside!

The cute little snowman bag is handmade and held all my goodies inside!
Thank you, thank you Lisa! (I KNOW you are reading this!!) Now, let's get YOUR blog happening!!

Also this week, I got all of my Swap Packages mailed. Alice got her's on Wednesday, and said she loved everything. I am so glad!!
Here are some pics of what was in her Valentine Swap Package.

I also mailed out my Secret Admirer swap package this week. She should have gotten it on Friday. I can't tell you who it is yet, or what I sent her because it's a secret, hence the name, Secret Admirer Valentine Swap. LOL But, I will have it posted on Valentine's Day so she can see who I am, and you can too!

I haven't gotten my Secret Admirer swap package yet, but I am looking forward to getting it next week, I hope! I'll post all the goodies just as soon as they arrive!!
