*Happy*Fourth*Of*July*

Do you have favorite memories of past 4th of July celebrations?
I know I do...

*the time it began to downpour right in the middle of our town's annual fireworks display and everyone went scrambling to get to a dry place... my grape snowcone falling, and losing my grandpa in the crowd*

*shooting bottle rockets and holding sparklers*

*Kenny, the boys and I laying on our trampoline looking up into the night sky watching beautiful bursts of colors from the fireworks*

*the time we watched them in our tent in the backyard*

*this year in the parking lot with Maggie looking for the "pretties"*
*drinking frozen margaritas*

*with Brandon and Sara*

*hubby and me*
*Blake spending the weekend with Carrie and Kennedy*

*fireworks over the lake at our condo*
*Maggie making mad dashes in and out of her doggy door to see the "pretties" in the sky*

*family cookouts with hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, sweet tea, watermelon, and homemade ice cream*
*dinner on the grounds at church after our God and Country Celebration*

Yes, there are many great memories of the 4th of July!

I LOVE to decorate with red, white, and blue for this celebration!

Flags flying in the breeze...a table set with blue and white dishes...on a red and white checked table cloth...white daisies bouquets, and flags in old crock jars...

But in the midst of our decorating, baking, celebrations, get-togethers, and fireworks, may we remember the reason we celebrate...the birthday of our great country that we are so fortunate to live in!  May we be reminded of those that are serving our country right now.  Those that are stationed in other countries, those on US soil, those in harm's way, those away from their families, and those fortunate enough to have their families near...may we be mindful of what they do for us each and every day.

May we remember the veterans that have served our country...and thank them when we see them!  I thank my son, Brandon, for serving four years in the Air Force.  And for my Daddy and brother-in-law that served in the Army.  May we remember those that didn't come home because they fought and died for us to be FREE...They paid the price with their lives because freedom is NOT free.

May we remember to be faithful in prayer for our nation and for our leaders...for we are nothing without GOD!  And our country and leaders need prayer more than ever!

I hope your day is filled with
* love and laughter*
*family, friends, and good food*
*flags flying, bursts of fireworks, and singing*
*thoughts of those that have and are serving*

God Bless America!

Back Porch Blessings and Happy 4th of July!
From our family to yours!

Wonderful post, Rebecca.... Happy 4th of July to you and your family also.

My biggest memory is a family get-together --where we always ate watermelon --and cooked burgers on the grill.

This year, we'll have brats on the grill, tater salad and baked beans... AND--of course we will have some watermelon...
Hugs,
Betsy
