This week was our first week back after a two week break. I was glad to get back into the classroom and hear all about my students' time off! But boy, was it ever hard those first few days back, trying to get back into the regular routine. I always say I'm going to do better over break, but I always sleep in and stay up way too late. Oh well, I guess that's what break is for. I decided to give myself a little pick-me-up this week, so on Wed. I headed on over to my favorite antique mall. I was a little disappointed that parts of the mall were closed due to renovations, but happy to know that there would be some great things happening there soon! So, I looked around the first floor and did find a few small purchases. It was a great time and a good pick-me-up on hump day of the first week back. Here are my treasures... The vintage red tin handled box {above} and red vintage jewelry box {above}.
*Needlepoint Picture* I LOVE this, especially the red frame!
*Child's little red table* I adore this!
Look at it upclose! Sweet!
*Precious vintage Children's Birthday Cards*
Then I found out that other parts of the mall would be opened back up by the end of the week, so I headed back there yesterday, Friday. When I got there, I headed upstairs to have a look around. I had visited several booths and then turned a corner. Something--huge--caught my eye at the back of a booth! It was this.....
I looked at a few things as I made my way to the dresser. I looked it over, and then took a looksy at the price tag. OMGosh! Is this right?? The price tag said $65. Could it really be?? So I went downstairs to ask Betty, the storekeeper, to go up and take a look for me. She said, "Surely not $65 but she would give it a look." "IT IS!", I heard her exclaim coming down the stairs. I said, "SOLD!" I told her my hubby would be back tomorrow to pick it up.
AND HE JUST DID!
Take a look at my Fabulous Friday Find and next project!
Mags gave her approval, so I guess we'll keep it! hee hee
So, I don't really have a finished project to show this week, but the beginnings of one that I will show soon!! I am going to be painting it "my" black color for my dining room. I will use it as a sideboard. What'd ya think?
And now, on to more news...
~SWAPS~
There's a new swap that I have joined. I'll tell you about that second. But first, I have something else for you. Here is what I promised to show you. These are the things that I sent to Julie for our Easter swap.
I am so excited to have joined Sarah's (Gypsy Mermaid) pink and green swap. I was so excited to find out who my partner was. Wendy from Florida is my partner. I had not seen her blog before now, so I am ready to read all about her, email back and forth, and get to know her better! Swap boxes go out on April 24, so I'll be able to show you her goodies then.
Back Porch Blessings,
Rebecca

What a fantastic dresser!
Oh my, I also adore all the treasures you bought at the mall. I think I may have to take that stitching, in the red frame off you hands. And the dresser $65.00 that wasn't a buy, that was a steal. I can't wait to see it. I adore the give-away I won. It arrived Friday, it will be perfect in my collection. Have a great week. Hugs, Rosemarie
