This week for Pink Saturday, we are to share a Christmas tradition.
One of my family's tradition is to attend the Christmas Eve candle light service at church.
A time to come together for the real meaning of Christmas and to sing Christmas carols together.
At the end everyone lights their candle {that they received when they came in} and sing Silent Night.
{always my favorite!!}
Then we head back home where we sit around the Christmas tree singing together as a family as the guys play their guitars. Our boys then exchange the gifts they got each other. This is always such a special time with my family. Even now that our boys are grown, we still enjoy doing this. I suppose when they are married, their wives will join in on this special time as well.
Be sure to go by Beverly's to see what traditions others are sharing this week.
God Bless and Merry Christmas!
Rebecca

Beautiful! Silent Night is so special!
Family seems to be the main thread running through our pink Saturday posts today! Have a wonderful Christmas with yours!
I had two boys who used to do this, too. I absolutely loved hearing them play guitar and yours is a lovely tradition. Of course you'll have daughters in law and grand kids joining in someday...and that's really wonderful. Blessings, Nancy
Rebecca, thanks for visiting my blog today and leaving your kind comments! It's so nice to meet you!
What a lovely way to spend Christmas eve, especially sharing it with those you love. How awesome it is that your boys can play the guitar . . . it adds so much to the carolling.
Wishing you and your family a very blessed and safe Christmas!
Happy Pink Saturday!
Blessings,
Teresa

What a beautiful way to spend Christmas Eve. My aunt used to bring out her songbooks and would sing and sing.
Thank you for visiting me today. You asked if they were sweet potatos, no, my mom put fruit in them among other things, I think apricots was one of them :)
Happy Pink Saturday and a wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas.

Wonderful tradition!
Wish you and your family a blessed Christmas!

Hi Rebecca!!!
Your family tradition sounds so much like mine, although I was remembering the special time as a child. Doesn't the church look beautiful at night?? I love how you come back home and sit and sing as a family. Our 4 children also exchange gifts among each other and I think that is the most exciting part of their Christmas (and maybe the one time out of the year that they really show a lot of love!! lol!)
Your blog is great. I have to come back and read more. Your 'Petticoat Junction' lunch looked fabulous!!
Happy holidays! :-)
xoxo

I am sure this lovely tradition of family, love and the spirit of why we celebrate Christmas will live on in the lives of your children after they have families of their own. What a perfect way to celebrate a perfect holiday. Thankyou for sharing your traditions with us, I loved it all. Merry Christmas to you and yours and Happy Pink Saturday. I will see you in 2010, Char
I love the Candle light service too. Silent Night is the best! Happy Belated Pink Saturday! Yesterday was crazed trying to get everything ready! Happy Holidays!

Hi, Rebecca,
I am so glad to get to meet you. You have a beautiful family and a beautiful blog. Your Christmas celebration is wonderful because it focuses on the real meaning of the season, the birth of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus. Thank you so much for stopping by Bunny Cottage for a visit. I am wishing you the merriest of Christmases. Vicki p.s. Thank you for teaching our children. I am a retired teacher after teaching for many years.
Candlelight service was always a very special time for me, I love when the church got all lit up with candle light at the end, and all the singing. It's so nice that you continue the tradition with your boys, even though they are grown. You can count on them to want to bring their wives and families home to you too, when they are married!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for stopping by!

It sounds like a beautiful and heartwarming tradition. I always wished we went to church when I was growing up, I always thought a Christmas Eve service would be so beautiful. Happy Christmas to you and your whole family!
What warm and wonderful traditions. I think the ones that involve going to church are the best. That is where we are most reminded of the reason of the season. Blessings!

That is always fun. We ask my Sister to bring her guitar and we sing carols, too.
you paint a wonderful picture of Christmas Eve. I do hope we can get out to do attend the service on Chrismtas Eve at our tiny little old church. The snow is not melting fast enough! Happy Pink Saturday.
