SPRING BREAK: WEEK ONE

My first week of break has been full of a variety of emotions and feelings:  busy, happy, scared, worried, encouraged, praising, blessed, tired!  Here's how my week has gone...

The week started off on a busy, but happy one.  I started on some spring cleaning, and with that a lot of rearranging of furniture.  I moved my china cabinet into the dining from the butler's pantry.

So when I emptied out all my china, I gave each piece a good cleaning.

And got everything put away again.

~I laundered some of my vintage linens~

~And moved my vintage dollies to another place~
I have other plans for the Butler's Pantry but that won't get accomplished until summer.

But then came a turn for the worse...

My Mom called us about 7:15 p.m. and said my Daddy had been gone to the store for way too long, and when he came home, couldn't speak and couldn't move his right arm.  We got an ambulance en route and got to the hospital.  They thought my Dad had had a mini stroke.  His scans, blood work, and EKG came back with a good report.  Before we left the ER to be admitted, he had gained use of his right side.  The next day, more involved tests showed he had had a significant stroke.  He still couldn't talk, but knew everything going on.

Each day, he has made more progress, and as of right now, he is doing very well!

He insists on feeding himself...which is good, and he has actually accomplished that!

He enjoys his time with the physical therapist walking up and down the halls.
Everyone is so impressed at the progress he has made!!

He will definitely need speech therapy, but we are so encouraged and feel so blessed!  He has not lost his memory, as he told us the miraculous story of how he felt the stroke coming on at the store and drove himself all the way home.  Praise God he wasn't hit or didn't hit someone else!  He also still has his great sense of humor!
We should know tomorrow about the next plan of action.
We have such a strong support of prayer warriors, and prayers surely are being answered!
Thank you Jesus!

This next week, my Daddy will celebrate his 82nd birthday, and Praise God he will be here with us to celebrate it!  Here's a picture we took at his 80th surprise party at our house.
{The party had a Post Office Theme since my Daddy is a retired mail carrier.  That is his vintage stamp machine that we secretly swiped from his house with the help of Mom.  Yep, my Dad likes antique and vintage things too!}

And I WON a giveaway!!!
This was the first blog giveaway I have ever won!  Just take a look!

I won this wonderful pink tureen from the sweet Melissa's blog giveaway!  I was so excited to receive an email from her telling me I had won!  Yippee!
Thank you so much Melissa!  I just LOVE IT!!!

Also, I will be mailing my sweet friend Karen's Easter swap package.  If you remember back, I was paired with Karen in Dolly's Vintage Heart Swap at Valentine's.

We had so much fun swapping and decided we would do an Easter swap as well.  As soon as we decided to do that back in February, I have been shopping and creating for her.

I'm soooo excited to be swapping with her again.  I hope she likes the things I have for her.  Above is a sneak peek.

Also, I will be mailing out Nancy's magazine that she won in my giveaway.  Bless her heart, all of this came about with my Daddy, and I haven't been able to get by the post office to mail it.  She has been most patient and understanding about it.  Nancy, I promise it is coming your way this week!

Hope you all have a lovely week.  Be sure to hug your loved ones and tell them how much you love them.  You never know when something could happen!
God Bless,
Rebecca

Oh, bless your heart, and your precious daddy's too. I'll certainly be thinking and praying for y'all. It is my hope that he'll have a speedy recovery and will continue to get stronger and stronger and better and better with each passing day.

I'm glad you enjoyed your Spring Break and got some productive things done. Last week was my Spring Break as well, and I didn't do anything productive.

I did however do a little shopping, visit a tea room, and go antiquing. Needless to say, I did ENJOY my week! Tomorrow it's back to the 'grinding stone' but I know the rest of the school year will fly by and it'll be Summer break before we turn around.

Hope you have a good week and hope your daddy continues improving. BTW, you china cabinet looks beautiful. Love, love, love those dishes!
